The Great Escaper is the title of a new movie that brings together two genuine icons of cinema, Glenda Jackson and Michael Caine.

Director Oliver Parker and writer William Ivory chat to Sean Rocks on RTÉ Arena about the movie above.

The film tells the true-life story of Second World War veteran, Bernard Jordan, who, in 2014, captured news headlines by making an escape from his Sussex care home to travel to France to attend the 70th anniversary commemoration of the D-Day landings.

It may well be, according to Michael Caine, his final movie. And of course, between the completion of the film and its release, we sadly lost its other star, Glenda Jackson.

But despite their advancing years, both lead actors give astonishing performances in The Great Escaper.
